Crack Filling · Madison, WI

Seal the cracks before they become potholes.

Hot-pour crack sealing that keeps water out of the base, the single highest-value maintenance step on any asphalt surface.

Overview

Crack Filling in south central Wisconsin

Every crack in your pavement is a funnel pointing straight at the base. Water goes in, freezes, expands, and widens the crack. Repeat that through a Wisconsin winter and a hairline becomes a channel, then the base saturates, then you have a pothole. Hot-pour crack sealing costs a fraction of what repairing that damage costs. Done on schedule, it is the difference between a driveway that lasts fifteen years and one that lasts twenty five.

How we handle crack filling

  3. BlowoutCompressed air clears remaining dust so the sealant bonds.
  4. Hot-pour applicationRubberized sealant applied hot so it penetrates and flexes.

  6. ReopenTypically usable within an hour or two once cooled.

Questions

Crack Filling FAQs

Which cracks are worth sealing?

Anything from about a quarter inch up to around an inch. Hairline cracks are better handled by sealcoating. Anything wider than an inch, or with alligator patterning, means the base is failing and needs full-depth repair instead.

When is the best time to do it?

Spring and fall are ideal. Cracks are at moderate width, so the sealant fills them properly rather than at their widest summer or narrowest winter dimension.

Does crack filling look bad?

It leaves visible black lines. If appearance matters, schedule crack filling followed by sealcoating and the whole surface reads uniform.
