Asphalt Paving · Madison, WI

Asphalt paving built on a real base.

New asphalt for driveways, lots, roads, and access drives across the Madison area. Graded for drainage, compacted in lifts, and rolled to a finish that holds.

Overview

Asphalt Paving in south central Wisconsin

Asphalt is only as good as what sits under it. A beautiful surface over a soft or poorly drained base will crack, sink, and pothole within a few seasons no matter how good the mix was. Our asphalt paving work starts underneath: excavation to the right depth, a properly graded and compacted aggregate base, and drainage that actually moves water off the surface. Then the hot mix goes down at the right temperature, gets rolled while it is workable, and gets hand finished at every edge and tie-in.

Questions

Asphalt Paving FAQs

How thick should my asphalt be?

Residential driveways typically get 2 to 3 inches of asphalt over 4 to 8 inches of compacted base. Commercial lots with truck traffic need more, often 3 to 4 inches of asphalt over a deeper base. We size it to your actual traffic, not a one-size number.

Can you pave over my existing driveway?

Sometimes. If the existing surface is structurally sound and grades are workable, an overlay can be a good value. If the base has failed or the elevation would end up above your garage floor, a tear-out is the right call. We check before quoting.

How long does a driveway take?

Most residential driveways are a one to two day job depending on excavation. Larger commercial work is scheduled in phases so you keep access.
